This event forms part of the Scottish Tourism Careers Festival 2012

 

We invite you to join us in celebrating the Tourism and Hospitality industry at our careers event on 16 March to be held at the innovative Apex Hotel in Dundee.

The aim of the event is to promote the Scottish Tourism Careers Festival 2012, which Springboard Scotland is co-ordinating throughout the month of March as part of the Scottish Tourism Skills Strategy objective to improve the appeal and attract talent into the industry.

We invite you to register groups of up to 10 students/ job seekers/ clients to come along to the Apex on the 16th and enjoy a Welcome to the Hospitality Industry experience at a pre-arranged time. Participants will have the opportunity to try out certain aspects of the daily life of the hotel, receive advice on making job applications and discuss their own career opportunities.

A typical programme for participants will include a selection of 10 minute hands-on sessions from the following:

  • Welcome to the Hotel from Springboard and Apex Hotels Ltd
  • HR –  How to Sell Yourself & Career Opportunities
  • Housekeeping - Room Standards and bed making
  • Restaurant and Bar – Setting up tables for service and cocktail demonstrations.
  • Kitchen - talk / demonstration.
  • Yu Spa - Health, Leisure and Well Being
  • Hotel Show-round.

Light refreshments will be provided and the entire experience will take approximately an hour!

This event forms part of the Scottish Tourism Careers Festival 2012

The aim of the event is to promote the Scottish Tourism Careers Festival 2012, which Springboard Scotland is co-ordinating throughout the month of March as part of the Scottish Tourism Skills Strategy objective to improve the appeal and attract talent into the industry. Essential to this is to bring key influencers together to learn more about the significance of the industry to Scotland.

We are delighted to announce that Apex Hotels are supporting the Festival and that together we have secured a very special keynote speaker for the event: Shirley Spear, proprietor of The Three Chimneys.

In addition to the work of Springboard Scotland, guests will be able to discuss the work of our partners People 1st, the Institute of Hospitality and Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland. This is a chance for you to hear about the exciting developments in relation to Modern Apprenticeships, World Host, Women 1st and the HIT scholarships.
